WORKSHOP 1: GRANDCHILDREN ARE A GIFT FROM GOD

Genesis 48
In Genesis 48 Joseph brings Manasseh and Ephraim to their grandfather Jacob to receive God’s blessings for their lives. God had promised Jacob his offspring would receive land as their inheritance (Genesis 28:13-15).

God decides who our grandchildren are as shown in Jacob adopting Joseph’s two sons who were born in Egypt as his own. There was an action required on behalf of Joseph and Jacob in order to fulfill God’s word. Joseph needed to bring the two grandchildren to Jacob and through prayer Jacob blessed the grandchildren according to God’s wisdom.

Grandparents bless their children and grandchildren when they obey God’s word. Jacob understood his children were a gift from God and accepted his fathers correction when giving the younger a double portion of land. God blessed Jacob with long life which allowed him to confer God’s perpetual blessing on these grandchildren.
